We also have an arrangement whereby the following services may be obtained through the surgery:
District Nursing, Health Visiting, Social Services, Psychiatric Nursing, Midwives, Dietician, Podiatry (Chiropody), Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Home Help Services and Care of the Elderly.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel please telephone the surgery or complete the travel form. You need to speak with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
Please complete the travel questionnaire attached below. This will be forwarded to your usual GP/practice nurse who will check to see if any vaccines are required. They will call you back with this information 7-10 days.
It is important to make this initial contact as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as an appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
At present we are not providing private vaccinations that are not available on the NHS and we request that you visit a travel clinic for these.
We have been made aware that there is a national shortage of some travel vaccines, this is beyond our control. You may have to try several pharmacies.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS. There will be a fee of £10.00 charged for the administration of each vaccine not available on the NHS.
